By browsing, searching, or practicing along with Hanzi Garden you agree to these terms. If anything here does not sit right with you, please stop using the site. No hard feelings — we just need everyone on the same page.

2. What We Offer

Hanzi Garden is a free Chinese-learning platform. We provide a dictionary, HSK and TOCFL vocabulary lists, animated stroke order with writing practice, and a printable practice-sheet generator — all designed to make learning Chinese more enjoyable. We do our best to keep everything accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that the site will always be available or error-free.

3. Dictionary & Learning Content

Our dictionary entries, stroke-order data, vocabulary lists and example sentences are built on openly licensed community data sources (such as CC-CEDICT, Make Me a Hanzi and Tatoeba), which we credit on our data licenses & attribution page. We are transparent about this because we think you deserve to know where your learning material comes from.

Please treat every entry as a learning aid, not an authority. Translations, pinyin readings, list assignments and stroke data can contain errors or lag behind current usage. If you are preparing for an official exam, always cross-check against the official syllabus and materials.

All original content on this site is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You are welcome to share links to any page, and to print practice sheets for your own study or your classroom. However, please do not copy, republish, or redistribute our content in bulk without written permission. The underlying open data remains governed by its respective licenses.

4. Word Basket & Local Storage

Your word basket is stored locally in your browser. We do not have access to it, and it will not sync across devices. If you clear your browser data, your basket will be lost — everything lives on your device, and we like it that way.

5. Intellectual Property

All original text, illustrations, icons, code, and design elements on Hanzi Garden are owned by us or used with permission. The Hanzi Garden name and logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without prior written consent. Third-party data sources are credited on the data licenses page and remain under their own licenses.

Some pages include links to external websites for credit, sources, or further reading. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Follow external links at your own discretion.

7. Limitation of Liability
